Promotions

William Barbera (Section 2) was promoted in March of 2012 to Chief of the Police Division at the Rockland County, NY Sheriff's Office.


Clint Reck (Section 4) was promoted on November 1, 2011 to the rank of Captain in the patrol division of the Muscle Shoals, Alabama Police Department.


Chad Fontenot (section2) was promoted on March 1, 2011 to the rank of Captain in charge of operations for the Alvin, Texas Police Department.


Don Buchanan (Section 5) was promoted to the rank of Commander effective September 19, 2010. He will assume the role of watch commander for nights and weekends at the Alameda County (CA) Sheriff's Office. This is Don's second promotion since attending the NA!


Stephanie Burch (Section 4) was promoted April 1, 2010 to the rank of Major in charge of operations for the Suffolk, Virginia Police Department. Here is a news story.


Robert Vincent (Section 4) was appointed February 2, 2010 to the position of Chief of Police for the Gulfport, Florida Police Department. Here is a news story.


Mark Henry (Section 4) was promoted October, 2009 to the rank of Commander in charge of the Investigative Support Section for the Illinois State Police.


Tony Hernandez was appointed March 3, 2009 to fill the unexpired term of the former sheriff of Jefferson County, Washington.  Here is a news story.


Ryan Murdough (Section 3) was appointed June 2, 2009 as the Chief of Police for the Henniker, NH Police Department.  Here is a news story.



Eddie Reyes (Section 5) was promoted June 27, 2009 to the position of Deputy Chief of Police, Operations Support Bureau, for the Alexandria, Virginia Police Department.


Kirk Blouin (Section 4) was appointed May 29, 2009 as Chief of Police for the Palm Beach, Florida Police Department.  Here is a news story.



Tim Ryan (Section 4) was appointed in May, 2009 as Chief of Police for the Osseo, Minnesota Police Department.  Here is a brief news clip.



Michael Rallings (Section 3) was promoted for a second time since the NA. In May, 2009, he was appointed the rank of Colonel, and he now commands the Mt. Moriah Station of the Memphis, TN Police Department.


Doug Phillips (Section 1) was promoted in January, 2009 to the rank of Division Chief of Field Operations for the Polk County Iowa Sheriff's Department.


George Delgado (Section 5) was promoted to commander of the west precinct for the Vancouver, Washington Police Department.



Bruce Riley (Section 2) was promoted in January, 2009 to Undersheriff of Linn County, Oregon.



Mark Henry (Section 4) was promoted in November, 2008 to the rank of Captain of investigations for the Illinois State Police.



Eric Carter (Section 1) was promoted in November, 2008 to the rank of Major, commading the fourth district of the Chicago Police Department.




Charlie Dennis (Section 4) was appointed Chief of Police for thhe Page, Arizona Police Department in April of 2008.



Michael Spera (Section 2) was promoted in June, 2008 to the rank of Deputy Chief of the Old Saybrook, CT Police Department.


David McDavid (Section 4) was promoted in November, 2007 to the rank of Captain over Detectives, K-9's and Communications for Zachary, LA Police Department


Doug Phillips (Section 1) was promoted to the rank of Major in January of 2007 after graduation. He currently commands field operations for the Polk County, Iowa Sheriff's Office.


Mark A Kearse (Section 3 ) was promoted to Chief of Police of the Rolla, Missouri Police Department on April 12, 2007.



Michael Mathis (Section 2) was promoted to Captain of Internal Affairs for the Chattanooga, TN Police Department in September of 2007.



Michael Rallings (Section 3) was promoted on 4/8/08 to the rank of Major for the Memphis, TN Police Department.



Ken Hall (Section 3) was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Pembroke Pines, FL Police Department.



John Allen (Section 3) was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Gallup, NM Police Department.



Tom Harrington (Section 5) was promoted to the rank of Major for the Fort Lauderdale, Florida Police Department.  He now commands the southern district of the city, including the world-famous beach.


Matt Torigian (Section 4) was promoted to Chief of Police for the Waterloo Regional Police Service.  Here is a link to a news article and video of the change of command ceremony (very cool!)


Roger Nasset (Section 4) was promoted to Chief of Police in Kalispell, Montana.  Here is a link to an online message from Roger.



Kevin Smith (Section 5) was promoted in December, 2007 to the position of Chief Investigator for the State Attorney's Office, 20th Judicial Circuit, Fort Myers, Florida.


Harry Lewis (Section 4) has been promoted effective January of '08 to the position of Chief of Police for the Pocono Mountain Regional Police  Department, Pennsylvania.


Tom Aguigui (Section 1) was promoted in August, 2007 to Captain of the Investigations Division for the Oceanside, California Police                Department.


Donald Buchanan (Section 5) was promoted in January, 2007 to Captain, and he now commands the Contract Services Unit of the Alameda County, California Sheriff's Office.


David O'Shaughnessy (Section 2) was promoted to Patrol Captain in November, 2007 for the Clackamas County, Oregon Sheriff's Office.



Leonard Purvis (Section 3) was promoted in September, 2007 to the position of Chief of Police for the Banning, CA Police Department



Ricardo Orozco was promoted in December, 2006 to the position of Captain of the Bureau of Administration for the Oakland, CA Police Department.



Family News


3/26/07--Harry Lewis and wife, Candy, had their third child, Delaney       Candace Lewis


Tracy Schaefer was married in May after a thirteen-year courtship.  It's about time!  Congratulations to Tracy and wife, Angie.



5/22/07--Patty Sherill gave birth to her second daughter, Kaitlyn Marie Sherrill, 5 months after we graduated!  Congratulations Patty, and well done finishing the Yellow Brick Road with a passenger on board.  Pic!

3/4/10--Tim Albright (Section 2) will be retiring effective May 1st after 27 years of service. He has accepted a position with Regions Bank as Corporate Assistant Vice President (North Alabama Area Security Manager). His personal email is posted on the FBINAA website.

3/27/09--Clint Reck and Travis Yates have teamed up to support a program called "Armor of God."  They recently collected used body armor and donated it to the Phillipine National Police.  Clint and Travis are looking for additional support of this program.  More information can be found here.

7/7/08--Don Buchanan of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office participated in homeland security training called Urban Shield, which focused on local agency response to terrorist acts against important infrastructure sites or public transportation services.  More information is available at http://urbanshield.org

Travis Yates was named Outstanding Instructor of the Year at the 2008 ILEETA conference in Wheeling, Illinois.  Travis is highly recognized as a police driving expert, and he is very deserving of this award.  Congratulations Travis!

11/9/06--This picture was taken at the Department of the Interior in Washington D.C.  We met with Dirk Kemphtorne, who is the Secretary of the Interior, and took this picture just outside his office on his veranda.

Secretary Kempthorne is the former Governor of Idaho, U.S. Senator of Idaho, and Mayor of Boise Idaho.

12/1/06--In every Session, a student is selected by his or her peers to receive the FBI National Academy Leadership Award.  This award for the 227 was presented by Acting Unit Chief, Dr. Jeff Green to Matthew Torigian of the Waterloo Regional Police Services.

Classmates noted Matt's willingness to provide genuine feedback and assistance while maintaining a very high degree of humility and professionalism.
